“Un largo almuerzo y relajante en el jardín”

Come and enjoy a long, leisurely lunch of Spanish food and wines, in the garden of Vice Echanson Grant and Merril Manypeney in Mareeba, Qld. This follows in the tradition of the long Italian lunch in 2022.

To be served alfresco in slow food style, over the afternoon with a selection of Spanish wines.

Mareeba is a very multicultural town and boasts an annual multicultural festival. It is now the largest town in the far northern region, outside of Cairns.

There are many cultural groups in the area including Spanish-speaking families, having settled here in search of a better life, predominantly in the years after WW2.

The hosts have multiple established connections with the local Spanish community and we are hoping to reproduce their various authentic, regional Spanish dishes. Be warned, some of the food will be Basque. Of course, “Los Vascos” disown the rest of the Spanish!

Motel accommodation, if required, would need to be booked early, as it is the day of the Multicultural Festival. Why not come up early and spend an hour or two before, at Arnold Park in town enjoying the festivities?
